He being pre-cautioned, Samuel Lee and Richard Penrose are appointed to draw a Testimony against him and let him know the proceedings of this meeting in his case, and report thereto."
    • Disowned: 27 Dec 1769, Exeter Friends, Berks Co, PA; "A Testimony against John Cleaver was brought to this meeting by one of the Friends appointed, which being read, was signed by the Clerk on behalf and by order of the meeting, and is as follows: Whereas John Cleaver, having made a profession with us the People called Quakers for some years, but for want of a due Observance of the Dictates of Truth in himself hath, contrary to the known rules of outr Discipline, let out his minfd to , and married a young Woman not of our Society, being precautioned by sundry Friends. We therefore so hereby disown him the said John Cleaver to be a member of our Society until he makes satisfaction to Friends for his said misconduct."
