  [S247] Newspaper Clipping, 10/31/2003. Edgar C. Hough Jr., 85, lumberyard worker Originally published October 31, 2003 Edgar C. Hough Jr., a retired lumberyard worker who collected antique toys and vintage farm equipment, died of pneumonia Tuesday at Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitative Center. The New Windsor resident was 85. Mr. Hough was born and raised on his family's farm in Carroll County's Bark Hill Village. After graduation from the old Elmer Wolfe High School, he worked as a farmhand for several area dairy farms. He was employed for many years at Arnold's Lumber Yard in Westminster until retiring about 20 years ago. Mr. Hough retained a lifelong interest in farm machinery and had assembled a collection of tractors from 1918 to the 1930s. He was also a fan of steam threshing machines, which were used in the pre-gasoline era to plow fields and run other machinery through a series of belts. He was a member of the Mason-Dixon Tractor Club of Westminster. Mr. Hough also had an extensive collection of antique mechanical toy trucks and diminutive farm equipment. "Those toys were certainly old, and between them and his tractors, he managed to fill the shed and garage," said his sister, Helen Devilbiss of New Windsor. He was a former member of the Union Bridge Lions Club and attended the Society of Friends Quaker Church in Union Bridge. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Linganore Cemetery in Unionville, Frederick County.
