  [S247] Newspaper Clipping, 1 Jan 1914. Patriot (Harrisburg, PA) 1/1/1914 Pretty Wedding Tuesday of Shippensburg Folk W. Alexander McCune, son of Mr. and Mrs. McCune, and M. Elva Green, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah E. Green, of Carlisle, were married at the home of the bride Tuesday evening December 30, at 6:30 o'clock. About 175 guests were invited. The bridesmaids were Miss Eleanor Uhland , of Carlisle, who wore pink chrameuse trimmed in Duchess lace and carried violets, and Miss Mary Gracey of New Cumberland, who wore lavender charmeuse trimmed in white fur and pink chiffon. She carried pink sweet peas. The bride was handsomely gowned in white crepe meteor trimmed in chantilly lace and pearls. She wore a tulle veil caught with orange blossoms and carried a shower of brides roses and lilies of the valley. The best man was Mr. Walter Numbers of Philadelphia. the ushers were Messrs. Burray Spahr, of Mechanicsburg, and Walter Edwards, of Pittsburgh. Miss Augusta McCune, sister of the groom, played Lohengrin's wedding march and mendelo recession. The bride was met at the foot of the stairway by her father. Little Elinor Green was flower girl and Martha Jane and Joseph Green were train bearers. The bride's gift from the groom was a handsome pearl brooch. Dr. George Norcross, pastor emeritus of the Second Presbyterian church performed the ceremony. The bride was the recipient of many handsome gifts. After an eastern trip, they will reside in Duncannon, where the groom is the supervisory principal of schools. The bride is a graduate of Carlisle H. S. and for two years was a student of Dickinson College. Mr. McCune is a graduate of the C. V. Normal School and the class of 1913 Dickinson College.
