  [S247] Newspaper Clipping, Cecil Whig, 4 May 2012. Ruth Reynolds Gamble, passed away peacefully on May 2/2012. She was a life-long resident of Cecil County. She was born in Rising Sun, MD, on September 10, 1923 and was the daughter of Anna and Curtis Reynolds of Rising Sun, MD Mrs. Gamble graduated from Rising Sun High School in June 1940 and attended Goldey College in Wilmington, DE. She married Floyd L. Gamble on March 31, 1945. Floyd passed away on April 28, 1982. She began working for Hercules Powder Co. in Wilmington, DE on December 21, 1942 and later went to work at Aberdeen Proving Ground from which she retired on March 31, 1993 after 50 years of service as an Administrative Officer for the APG controller Ruth was an avid golfer and played in the Ladies Group at Chantilly Golf Club. She loved to play bridge and belonged to the Tuesday Bridge Club and Wednesday nights at the American Legion in Rising Sun. She was a member of the 6, 7 and 8th Auxiliary of Union Hospital and a volunteer at the hospital gift shop. Ruth was a life-long member of Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred R. Gifford. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Frances Gamble Preston and Helen Gamble; niece Nancy G. Williams and her husband Frank and their children, Grace and Jill, Scott Williams, Donna W. Burton and husband Joshua and son, Braxton; niece Melissa G. Buckland and husband Bran and their children, Victoria, Jessica and Christopher; nephew Kirk C. Gifford; grandnephew, George Gamble and wife Janice and their children, Madison and Johanna; and grandniece, Jill Gupta and husband, Sunil and their children, Priya and Kavita.
