      NEW WINDSOR FARMER DIES BY HANGING

      Percy C. Wolfe, 56, Had Been Despondent; Funeral Services To Be Held Monday

      Percy Claire Wolfe, 56, well-known New Windsor farmer, was found dead by hanging in the wagon shed by his wife at his home this morning on the property of Philip B. Snader, near New Windsor. He had been despondent due to ill health.

      State trooper John W. Crout, investigating officer called to the scene at 6:45 o'clock this morning, Carroll County medical examiner, pronounced Wolfe dead at the scene at 8:05 o'clock. Trooper Crout gave the following recapitulation:

      Wolfe placed a rope over the rafters in the wagon shed and placed a ladder on the back of his pickup truck. He climbed the ladder and then jumped off.

      Wolfe was born May 16, 1899 in Frederick county, a son of the late William H. and Lizzie Garber Wolfe.

      Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Agnes Stitley Wolfe, four children, George W. Wolfe of Westminster; Emory H and James Wolfe, both of New Windsor; and 18 grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and the following brothers and sisters: Claude Wolfe, Hagerstown; Harry and Grayson Wolfe, both of Union Bridge; Wilbur Wolfe, New Windsor; Lester Wolfe, Rocky Ridge; and Mrs. Cora Black, near Hagerstown.

      He was a member of the Edgewood Church of the Brethren, and a member of the New Windsor Fire Company. Friends may call at the New Windsor funeral home of D.D. Hartzler and Sons after noon on Sunday. He will be removed to the Winters Lutheran church at 10 a. m. Monday where services will be held at 11 o'clock. Rev. Thronton Black will officiate, assisted by Rev. Donald Warrenfeltz. Interment will be made in Winters cemetery near New Windsor.
