Joseph T. Reynolds died at his home in East Nottingham, Pa., Thursday night, July 1, of a complication of diseases, at the advanced age of 82 years. The deceased was a son of Jacob and Anna Moore Reynolds, being one of a family of eleven children, and was a native of his neighborhood. Receiving his early education in the common schools, he learned the trade of a miller, and operated for years the mill on Stone Run, about one and a half miles northwest of town. In 1863 he removed to East Nottingham, Chester County, where he resided at the time of his death, occupying the Isaac Wood property, which he greatly improved and brought to a high state of cultivation. In addition to being a progressive farmer he was actively interested in public affairs, serving ten years as school director, and was elected Commissioner of Chester County on the republican ticket for a term of three years. He was a member of the Society of Friends. Mr. Reynolds was twice married. In April 1858, to Rebecca M., daughter of Abner and Charlotte (Michener) Pugh, East Nottingham. Reynolds, who with her mother survive. The deceased also leaves a brother and a sister; Stephen J. Reynolds of Rising Sun and Mrs. Adrianna Kirk of Oxford. At the funeral, which was held on Monday morning, and was largely attended, E. R. Buffington of Rising Sun, and Mary Heald Way, of Oxford, made addresses.
