  Samuel was attacked by his mother with an axe on June 12, 1691 and died of his wounds six days later. Though the jury's verdict was that she was guilty of willfully killing her son, she managed to escape execution due to the unrest caused by the removal of Governor Edmund Andros. She was still alive in 1695.
