The Schuylkill meeting, first known as the Charlestown Indulged meeting, was started in 1823 by the Valley Preparative meeting with the permission of Radnor Monthly Meeting. Its one-story stone meetinghouse was erected in 1807 by Enoch Walker to serve as a Friends' schoolhouse and meetinghouse for travelers. In 1815, Walker deeded the schoolhouse and about 2 acres of land to the meeting, along with the burial grounds which were started about this time. In 1826, the name was changed to Schuylkill and the original meeting was laid down by Radnor Monthly. The meetinghouse and burial grounds were retained by the Schuylkill Indulged Meeting. In 1936 the meeting was transferred to Valley Monthly and became the Schuylkill Monthly Meeting in 1954.
