Dear Cousin Alice

I met Miss Shannon a few mornings ago, on her way home from the doctor's office - She is not very well yet but goes out a little. She has nervous trouble and dizziness.

I reminded her about the Lane matter, and she has brought me in the enclosed sheet.

From what is on this paper, James Shannon, who married in 1772, from his age, is probably your only ancestor who could have been in the war of the Revolution, unless his father or his wife's father were still young enough. Nothing is said about any of the three being in the war, so the paper will not be if use to show that you could be a D.A.R.. The "Provincial Counsellor" or Samuel Land being in Braddock's expedition might however make you eligible to become a "Colonial Dame".

I suppose this paper covers what you want to know, so if it is not the right thing let me know and I will go back to Miss Shannon for more information is she has it. I am sorry that there has been the long delay.

We are all pretty well just now. We have had colds but are getting over them. I have not seen or heard from any of the West chester people. We did not get up to see them - Martha was not very well for some time and we went out very little in the auto after you left. I must run up there yet before winter. We trust that you are all well.
