Will of Joseph Gregg

Be it remembered that I Joseph Gregg of the township of Kennett in the County of Chester & Province of Pennsylvania Being of Sound Mind and Memory and Calling to Mind the uncertainty of this life have thought therefore to make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following

It is my mind and will that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid by my estate herein after named in convenient time after my decease.

Item - I give and bequeath utno my loving wife Hannah my best feather bed and furniture thereunto belonging and the best cow and ridign creature I have and the east end or half part of my present dwelling house from the cellar floor to the roof. A sufficient garden spot well enclosed, sufficient and suitable firewood continually cut and hauled to the door for her and family use; the keeping of a cow and horse creature , the use and benefit of water with equal liberty to and from it to her door ....(unreadable)...; together with the full use (.....unreadable.....) during the continuance of her widowhood and no longer.

Item - I give and devise unto my three sons to wit Benjamin, Enoch and Isaac and to their respectable heirs and assigns forever all my Real Estate to be divided between them as to Quantity  that is to say

Item - I give to my son Benjamin his heirs and assigns Forever all the one half part of my plantation containing Two hundred acres taken off that end of the land where he now lives and as I cannot now fix the lines to my mind it is my will that they themselves choose three good responsible freeholders to make an equal division of this two hundred acres as nearly as they can that will suit them both, and it is my will and I give and devise and bequeath unto my son Isaac all the remainder of this two hundred acres where I now dwell to him, his heirs and assigns For Ever.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Enoch his Heirs and Assigns forever all that tract of land that he now lives on lying in the township of New Garden which I purchased of George Sharp.

Item - I give and Bequeath unto y son Solomon all my personal estate after what is willed to my wife and my just debts and funeral charges is taken out and there is here after will for his share.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son-in-law John Bason [Beeson] the sum of five shillings current lawful money of this government for his share.

Item - I do hereby nominate and ordain my two sons Benjamin and Enoch executors of this My Last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making null and void all other wills either in word or writing heretofore by me made and nominate this and none other to be for my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I Joseph Gregg the testator hath hereunto set my Hand and Seal dated this Twenty Sixth Day of July the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy.
