Lucretia GALLAHER

Female Abt 1777 - 1851  (~ 74 years)

Death of Lucretia Bratton

At the residence of her son-in-law, Wm. Curran, near Greenfield, Ohio, on t0he 20th ult., of dropsy, Mrs. Lucretia Bratton, formerly of Juniata county, and mother of the editor of this paper, in the 74th year of her age.

[The deceased was the mother of seven children, the writer of this being the youngest. As a parent, she was kind and affectionate, yet strict and positive. For forty years or more, she had been a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, and died in the firm belief of a glorious immortality. Some sixteen years thence, she emigrated from Juniata county to Ohio, with her son-in-law and daughter, and made that State her residence ever since, occasionally however, paying a visit to her native State. She was a woman of startling sense and as an English scholar had few if any female superiors in Juniata county. To her more than any one else are her children indebted for the education they received. She has fulfilled her passion, and her ashes repose in peace by the grave of her only daughter.]
