Obit of David Nevin Rankin



Dr. David Nevin Rankin, prominent in the medical profession in Allegheny county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. A. Plummer, of Shield's Station, PA. Dr. Rankin was born in Shippensburg and was a son of the late Dr. William Rankin, who was a prominent physician in that town for many years. Sr. David Rankin practiced medicine in Shippensburg in connection with his father, but removed to Allegheny some forty years since. Dr. Rankin married Miss Kate Irwin, daughter of the late Henry Irwin, Allegheny, who survives him together with three children - Dr. H. J. Rankin, who was associated with his father; Mrs. Howard Childs, of Oakland, and Mrs. H. A. Plummer. J.P. Rankin, the real estate agent, of Pittsburgh, was a brother of the deceased. These five sisters also survive him: Mrs. George V. Johnston, Southampton township; Mrs. Mary A. Moodey and Mrs. J. A. C. McCune, Shippensburg, and Mrs. John R. Miller and Mrs. Robert A Hayes, Carlisle.
