Wedding of Caroline Reynolds and James Hiester



Caroline Reynolds Becomes Bride of James Hiester

The Reading-Exeter United Friends Meeting House was the scene yesterday afternoon of the marriage of Caroline Nevin Reynolds, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Gregg D. Reynolds, Mohnton R. D. 1, and James Cleaver Hiester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Hiester, of Joanna.

Mrs. C. Douglas Penniman, Jr., of Baltimore, cousin of the bride, presented a short piano recital before the service.

The traditional Friends' ceremony was witnessed by members of the two families, members of the Meeting and close friends. A reception at the Iris Club followed the ceremony.

The bride wore a waltz-length gown of ivory silk chantung, designed with a tight bodice, short sleeves and square low neckline with rosepoint lace. He short veil was held in place by a coronet of old rosepoint lace, worn by her mother. She carried a bouquet of white camellias and freesia.

Hazel L. Gaines, of Roanoke, was the only attendant. She wore an aqua taffeta gown with tight bodice and full waltz-length skirt. Her coronet was of matching color and she carried a bouquet of pink split carnations.

William Hyndman Jr. of Philadelphia, served as best man. The ushers were Donald C. Boas of Reading, cousin of the bridegroom, and G. David Reynolds, Jr., brother of the bride.

Mrs. Reynolds' gown was Dior blue taffeta and she wore rose-beige hat and gloves. Mrs. Hiester wore a turquoise silk organza gown with matching hat and navy accessories.

The bride is a graduate of George School, Bucks County, and attended Swarthmore College. Mr. Hiester was graduated from Caernarvon Township High School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He served in the Army during World War II and later as a lieutenant in the Air Force, He is associated with the propeller division of the Curtiss-Wright Corp. in Caldwell, NJ.
