Att an Orphans Court held at Chester the Nineteenth day of December Anno dom 1749...
...ABRAHAM VERNON one of the sons of JACOB VERNON deceased having petitioned the Court for Liberty to Choose his Guardian wch is allowed of and he makes Choice of ROBERT MENDENHAMM to be his Guardian who is thereupon admitted.
ELIZABETH VERNON petitioned the Court on Behalf of LYDIA, ELIZABETH and JACOB VERNON Children of JACOB VERNON deceased for ye Court to Appoint proper persons to be their Guardians wch was allowed of and the Court appoints JOSEPH GIBBONS and RICHARD MENDENHALL to be their Guardians &c.

Mortgage. On 30 Dec 1754 Abraham Vernon, yeoman to John Hickman of Thornbury, sawyer. Whereas Jacob Vernon, the father of Abraham Vernon became in his lifetime seized in a a tract of land in Thornbury containing 507 acres bounded by land late of John Cheyney, & said Jacob died intestate, leaving his wife, Elizabeth & 5 children to survive him, Elizabeth was made his administer of his goods & chattels. Elizabeth Vernon sold 124 acres to Jonathan Howell, leaving 383 acres to be divided between the five children, (his widow's dower or third to be excepted), whereby Abraham Vernon is entitled to 2 shares, being the eldest son. Now Abraham Vernon granted to John Hickman his share of the 383 acres of land. Abraham Vernon to pay John Hickman L100 plus interest on 10 Jan 1756. Signed Abraham Vernon. Delivered in the presence of John Adam Beal & Margaret Geiger. Recorded 19 May 1755
