Robert Wilson Moore died at his residence, in Luthersburg, on Monday evening. He was born in the Half Moon Valley, Centre county, Pa., on the 7th day of May, 1806. He was the seventh of eight sturdy sons of Thomas and Sarah Moore. On December 20th, 1827, he was united in marriage with Esther Guthrie; daughter of Wm. Guthrie, who was born in Penn's Valley, eleven miles below Bellefonte, August 28th, 1802. They began their voyage of life with no worldly possessions-Esther's only inheritage being a large family Bible from her father-but she had a liberal education and had been a school teacher, and, both being economical, in a comparatively short time they were in comfortable circumstances. They lived in Centre county, until 1834, when they moved to Curwensville, accompanied by their two children, Cecilia and Reuben, whose ages were respectively four and two years, where he worked at carpentering one year, and then moved across the Susquehanna to Irvin's grist mill, of which he had charge three years, when he moved, in 1837, to the "Brady Mills", afterwards known as "Moore's Mills", and now as "Rockton Mills". These were the only mills in this part of the country and people came to have their "milling" done from Brookville, and, at times, a still greater distance.

In a short time he embarked in the (text is unreadable)county, as a partner. They, in a short time, built a pottery near the present sight (sic) of Seyler's pottery. This was, no doubt, the first pottery in Clearfield county. They continued in partnership until 1842, when they abandoned the pottery business, and dissolved their relations as partners, Robert Moore taking charge of the store and carrying on the business alone. It was here, at "Moore's Mills", that he accumulated his wealth by hard and incessant labor and honest dealings.
In 1854 he moved to Luthersburg, his family then numbering five children, Eliza, Lucretia and Lorena being born at Moore's Mills. His family thereafter remained the same and all are now living. He built the hotel, now occupied by D. Goodlander, and after occupying it a short time, left it. Although it can be said that he was a good landlord, yet since then, he has ever regretted, and expressed himself very often concerning the matter, that he ever kept a licensed house, and has been opposed to the liquor traffic.

His wife died April 28th, 1864, and from then until 1875 he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. L. B. Carlile, and had charge of the postoffice from that time until the beginning of the present administration, and in that capacity was popular as being efficient and careful.
Since 1875 he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Cecelia Irvin, in the beautiful residence on Main street, which he purchased from F. K. Arnold in that year. His business, during the past 30 years, has been almost wholly in charge of his only son, R. H. Moore. He has been a man of wonderful physical endurance, and indeed, it seems that his entire family were characterized by unusual longevity, all of his seven brothers, but one, living to be more than eighty years of age, and one up in the nineties. He was to be seen on the street until Thursday, when his last illness began. He remained conscious and lively to the last. He did not resort to his bed but sat in a chair. His time had come. No disease touched him. He had no pain, but it seemed that the great physical organism had been slowly worn out and at last the time had come to stop. Death could not have been easier for him. The departure of his noble spirit was taken without suffering and was peaceful.

Robert Wilson Moore was a man in the fullest sense of the term,-a manly man, and an honest man. He did not wrong anyone intentionally, always meeting his obligations in true manliness. He attended to his own business and did not abuse his fellowmen. He held a birthright membership in the Friends Society and his life was an every day life of purity. He was respected by all and in him were the principles and outworkings of pure gentlemanliness.

He leaves one son, R. H. Moore, four daughters, Mrs. Cecilia Irvin, Mrs. L. B. Carlile, Mrs. D. Brubaker, of Rockton, and Mrs. Dr. Clever, of Reading, nineteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, who, although they have lost one very dear indeed to them, may rejoice that his death was so resigned and peaceful.

The remains, followed by a large concourse of people, were interred at the Union cemetery, at Luthersburgh, on Thursday afternoon.
