Charles F. Nevin, 54 years old, one of the most prominent men in the Sewickley Valley and well known throughout Western Pennsylvania, died at his residence in Linden Avenue, Sewickley, last evening of consumption, which developed after an attack of pneumonia two years ago. Mr. Nevin was the son of the late Theodore H. Nevin, and was born in Sewickley in 1848, and had been prominently identified with the growth of that borough, having been president of the borough council for the past three terms, while he had been a member of the body for two terms in the eighties. Since 1870 he had been president of the Nevin Paint and White Lead Company, which concern he had helped his father to organize. He was an inspector on the prison board, president of the Edgeworth club and a trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Sewickley. For the past few months he had been at Lake Saranac, N.Y., only arriving home Sunday. Mr. Nevin is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Elizabeth Grafton; two children, Theodore, a senior at Yale University, and Elizabeth, at home, and one brother and a sister, Frank P. Nevin and Mrs. J. B. Booth.
